We don't advise to download the msvcrt.dll file and copy it to the Windows system directory. The software's creators almost never circulate the DLL files, they are always part of an installation set. It's the installation set's task to perform the sufficient verifications before the installation. An incorrectly installed DLL file may cause the system's complete inability to function.
download msvcrt.dll windows server 2003
I installed Windows Media Player 11, and it got an error. "The procedure entry point_except_hanlder4_common" could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll, so I replaced the original msvcrt.dll with msvcrt.dll (BWC), so I fixed the error and started Windows Media Player 11. But when I installed update to KERNELXE 0.2.3.1 Error returned. Due Msvcrt.dll for Windows Server 2003 .
OK - so what information do we get immediately? We can tell that this dump is for a crash of the SVCHOST.EXE process. Also take note of the Symbol Search Path - in this instance, I have a local symbol store that I am populating from the Microsoft Public Symbol server. Finally we can tell what platform this dump came from - a 32-bit Windows Server 2003 SP1 machine.
In reality, almost every application installed on Windows needs at least the C runtime and many need also the C++ runtime. The runtimes were almost always present in the system directory of established host servers and it was relatively rare during the heyday of WinXP and Server2003 for an installation of an older Firebird version not to run "straight out of the box".
Until V.2.1.1, the preferred way to do this was to install the vcredist_32 or vcredist_64 Microsoft installer (.msi) package, as appropriate for the architecture of your host server, from the Microsoft support site. For Windows 2000 and for WinXP and Server2003 prior to Service Pack 1, you need(ed) to download and install the .msi Installer software and then install the MSVC8 redistributable pack.
The deployment rules for the ..71.dll runtimes are similar to those for older versions (for both the runtimes and the Firebird components): it is enough to copy them to the Windows system directory on Win2000, WinXP and Server2003 servers and clients. Microsoft Vista is not so tolerant about post-installing DLLs in its system directory but it appears that copying msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll there does work, at least at the Windows service patch levels current in the first quarter 2009.
There are also some other oddities here. There are 2 different C runtimes used in the 32-bit version of Java 6 for Windows. For some reason they are redistributing msvcr71.dll (C runtime from Visual Studio .NET 2003) and also msvcrt.dll which is supposed to be the name of the private C runtime used by Windows components. However, the msvcrt.dll in the Java directory is actually the C runtime from Visual Studio 6 or possibly a very old Platform SDK.
The x64 version of Java is even stranger. It links against a Microsoft x64 C runtime library called msvcrt.dll. Again this is the name reserved for the private Windows platform C runtime but this msvcrt.dll has file version 6.10.2207.0 either from a very old version of the Windows Platform SDK that provided x64 compilation support prior to Visual Studio 2005 or from a tool chain that was available by request (and is no longer available) for Visual Studio 2003.

Updates for 2007 US Daylight Saving Time rule changes: If you are running KfW on a system where the TZ environment variable is set, you will need an updated .NET 2003 C Runtime Library (included with the new kfw-3.1.1 installers) in order to get correct DST behavior. Having a TZ environment variable setting is a somewhat uncommon configuration primarily used for compatibility with older applications; if the TZ environment variable is not set, KfW correctly obeys the DST rules set in the operating system.
